Premiership 3th/4th April 2021

Well it has been a while since I blogged! however that does not mean I haven't been following the football world. Let me start with Arsenal awful match against Liverpool! this was probably their worst match in a long time! I personally blame the coach Arteta, as soon as a I saw the line up he had put up against Liverpool I knew that it would be a super challenging match!

Arsenal's problem for the last 13 years has been the back 4 pairing! Wenger consistently made the same mistakes and he never seemed to learn from the losses. It seems Arteta has also developed this terrible trait! I went back and reviewed all the back 4 line ups since January 2021 and never once has Arteta played Chambers and Holding together in the back four.

These two are inexperienced  and are no way ready for this level of football both seemed unsure of their role. Gabriel who has been consistently fantastic had an awful day and was primarily responsible for goal 3. Kieran Tierney who has been consistently excellent for the last three months, went off injured and once Tierney went off the floodgates opened.

Arsenal midfield and strikeforce had a very poor day and barely had a strike on target, what was especially annoying was that this match was played at the home ground of Arsenal but without any fans. Which quite frankly would probably have made little difference!

Elsewhere Chelsea got hammered 5 2 by West Bromwich which was truly shocking! Chelsea have had a awful season which has really surprised me. A bit like Arsenal they are also in transitional season. This I think has impacted on their season.

Manchester City  beat Leicester city 2 0 which was another straight forward win for them and this win took them a step closer to winning the premiership title. Manchester City have been very consistent this season and their consistency has paid off.

Manchester United beat   Brighton 2  this was an excellent win for Man U again Marcus Rashford was front and centre of their attacks and without him I really believe they would struggle. This not a very strong team but they have still managed to get the wins when they needed it.

Tottenham  and Newcastle drew 2 2 this has been a difficult season for Spurs and they are also struggling with consistency and they should be winning games that they are losing or drawing which is also quite surprising.

Premiership weekend 30/31st January 2021

This weekend was a big weekend for Arsenal as we played against Manchester United. Now considering our position in the league, I was just hoping that we would not loose badly.

I have to say I was very surprised about how well we played! There where a few scary moments and a fantastic defensive header by Martinelli when Marcus Rashford was poised to score.

We even had a few clear scoring chances which we did not take. But the positives that came out of it was that Arsenal held strong.

Elsewhere Manchester City had a good win against Sheffield United, Liverpool got a good win against West Ham which keep both Manchester City and Liverpool in the top three.

The shock of the weekend was Tottenham losing by a goal to nil to Brighton. I think wheels as well and truly come of Tottenham title challenge. I could be wrong but they seems to be slipping down the table and they will be joining Arsenal in the mid table table.

After sacking Frank Lampard, Chelsea have remembered how to score goals but I honestlyI an not impressed with their team this year.. It does seem a little like cobbled together team.

So the this is the weeks review don’t forget to subscribe to my blog.

Premier league - 31st January & 1st February 2015

In this weekend Premiership results Manchester United beat Leicester City by three goals to one and this a much needed win for United who probably still think they can win the title so with that in mind they cannot afford to drop points.

Tottenham had good win against West Brom as they beat them by three goals to  nil. This win helped Tottenham to keep in touch with the top five.

Chelsea and Manchester City drew one all and this was a fantastic result for the chasing pack. if Chelsea had one maybe they would have one hand on the trophy.

If Manchester City had won that would have helped them to pull clear from the chasing pack so the result was good for the teams vying for title.

Arsenal beat Aston Villa by five goals to nil and this the best win that Arsenal have had in a while. They got this win without Arsenal top goal scorer Sanchez was not selected to play.

It just goes to show that Arsenal can results when needed now just have to be string together a couple more results.

Premiership - 1st January 2015

I haven't blogged in a while mainly because I wanted to get some well earned rest from blogging as well holding down a job.

My lack of blogging was not particularly helped by watching Arsenal mess things up time and time again.

New year but same old Arsenal as soon as I saw the team line up I knew it was going to be a tough match to win against a Southampton team that have had an amazing start.

So I was not too surprised when Southampton beat Arsenal by two goals to nil. Arsenal defence is probably the worst I have ever seen.

They are not comfortable in the air and when the other team is running at them the defence backs off.

So it was another terrible loss for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger has no plans to strengthen the defence in the transfer window so it could be a really tough next five months for the team.

Elsewhere Manchester United drew one  all with Stoke City this was a surprising result as Man United have being doing well and if they had won this match it would have helped to consolidate their third position and even challenge for the top two positions.

Manchester City just about beat Sunderland by three goals two to help them retain the title they won last year.

I don't think Manchester City are playing well but they are doing enough to win their games and get those valuable points.

The shock of the day was Tottenham beating Chelsa by five goals to three. This loss would have really have hurt Chelsea because many including myself had gifted them title and I did not see them losing a match.

So this loss to Tottenham has definitely made the race to the title a little more interesting as Manchester City and Chelsea are now only separated by goal difference.

Premiership 8th and 9th November 2014

In this weekend football Swansea beat Arsenal by two goals to one. It was a pretty inept performance by Arsenal. I felt bad for Alexis Sanchez who scored an amazing goal and ended up on the losing side.

Arsene Wenger really needs to get a grip of the back four as Nacho Monreal is not and centre back and if he continues to play him in that position it could get even worse for Arsenal

Chelsea beat Liverpool by two goals to one and this was another good win for Chelsea.

Liverpool now seem to be in a terminal decline and if they don't start stringing some results together there season will be over very quickly.

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace by a goal to nil. Man U fans will be relieved to get this win under their belt.

But this win has done little to improve their standing in the league. But I am sure it will be welcome relief for the players and fans.

Man City drew two all with Queens Park Rangers and this was a bit of surprise. I really did not expect Queens Park Rangers to get anything out of this match. But it's one point that QPR needed.

Man City they should really should be winning these kind of matches. If they want to retain the title they won last season.

Stoke City beat Tottenham by two goals to one and Tottenham are languishing in the bottom part of the table.

They too cannot seem to string results together and they need to turn it around quickly or before they know it they will be fighting relegation.

Premiership review - 15th/16th March 2014

In the weekend premiership games Aston Villa beat Chelsea by a goal to nil. Chelsea pain was also compounded by finishing the game with nine men.

Chelsea's loss was a real gift to Man City,  Liverpool and Arsenal. It's a match that Chelsea where expected to win and it would have consolidated their lead at the top.

Man City beat by Hull City by two goals to nil and having played two games less than the other top four teams.

Man City are certainly sitting pretty and if they can win all their remaining games then the title will be there's.

The shock of the weekend was Liverpool beating Manchester United by three goals to nil.

It was an embarrassing loss as this game took place at Old Trafford. The win meant that Liverpool have now got a realistic chance to win the title.

Elsewhere Arsenal beat Tottenam by a goal to nil and this was not a pretty win. Tottenham had most of the possession and where probably tad unlucky not to get a draw.

But Arsenal did what they needed to do to win the match and it was certainly three much needed points and most importantly keeps Arsenal in the title race.

Premiership review - 9th February 2014

In today's premiership games Tottenham beat Everton by one goal to nil. This was was a good win for Tottenham as they come closer to securing that European place.

Manchester United drew two all with Fulham and this was a surprise result. Man United where playing at home so I thought that they where going to win comfortably.

But Fulham got an early goal and held on to this lead for almost an one hour. That's when Man United came back into the game and they thought they had won the match and then Fulham got the ninety minute equaliser.

This was a bad draw for Manchester United with their title aspirations all but gone they are now fighting for a European place.

This fight is probably proving more difficult than they imagined and to be fair they have not been in this position before.

However United are a formidable team and I am sure they will get one of those European  spots.

Premiership review - 18th/19th January 2014

The Premiership games where played over the weekend and Arsenal beat Fulham by two goals to nil.

It was a tense match and the goals where scored quite late in the match by Santi Carzola and he is one of my favourite players.

I strongly believe that he is one of  the players that holds the keys to Arsenal sucess this season.

Man City beat bottom of the league Cardiff City by four goals to two. Man City are really playing free flowing football and are scoring goals at will.

However there problem is that they don't have a great defence so they have to constantly score more goals than they will concede.

Liverpool drew two all at home to Aston Villa and they will probably see that as two valuable points dropped. However they are still top four so they still have it all to play for.

Tottenham beat Swansea by three goals to one to keep them top five. They still are in with a good chance of bagging a Champions League spot.

Chelsea beat Man United by three goals to one and this loss has effectively ended Man United chances of winning the league.

For Chelsea this was a great win and Samuel Eto scored a hat trick! Samuel might be older now but he is good player to have in your team and I think Jose Mourinho has finally started playing him more.

So Arsenal are still top of the league but only by the narrowest of margins, so there is still all to play for.

Premiership review - New Years Day

The New Years Day fixtures where tense and highly entertaining.

Arsenal beat manager less Cardiff City by two goals to nil. It was a tense match and Arsenal scored both their goals in the last five minutes.

This win helped Arsenal to retain their position at the top of the league. There where also wins for the chasing pack of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Tottenham beat Manchester United at Old Trafford by two goals to one. It was most entertaining match of the day and lived up to its early evening billing.

That lost to Tottenham has severely dented Manchester United chances of retaining their title. However it's only the second day of January, so there is still everything to play for.

Premiership round up 06/10/13

Well it was definitely an exciting weekend of Premiership matches.

Manchester United beat Sunderland two goals to one and had to come from behind to secure the win.

This has taken the pressure of David Moyes as I suspect if they had lost this match. There would have been fans out there who would have demanded that he be sacked.

Liverpool beat Crystal Palace three goals to one to maintain there impressive start to the season.

Man City also had a good win as they beat Everton by three goals to one and that win ensured that they stay top five in the league.

Chelsea had a good win against Norwich who they beat by three goals to one and that keeps them third in the league.

Arsenal drew one all to West Bromwich Albion which was not a bad result as we are still joint top of the league with Liverpool.

But at the same time drawing to teams like West Brom is not good for team that like Arsenal that desperately needs to win a trophy after eight trophy less years.

I am hoping that this was a blip and we will get back to our winning ways after the international break.

But the shock result of the weekend was title challenging Tottenham losing three goals to nil at home to West Ham.

This has now put them sixth in the league like I said in previous blogs. I can't seem them mounting a serious challenge in the league as Spurs are too inconsistent. But who knows they might prove me wrong, somehow I doubt it.
